
The objective of the Catholic Studies Program is to provide Catholic and non-Catholic students attending UPEI the opportunity to take Catholic Studies Courses which will help provide students with a sound, moral and ethical decision making base throughout their lives.
Saint Dunstan’s University invests up to $100,000 per year to provide support for the University of Prince Edward Island’s Catholic Studies Program which includes UPEI’s hire of a full-time Catholic Studies professor.
Saint Dunstan’s University pays the annual base salary for the visiting scholar position. Each academic year, the Visiting Scholar teaches five Catholic Studies courses.
Experiential Learning at UPEI
SDU will contribute $35,000 per year for 14 year period to the Catholic Studies Program to sponsor experiential learning programs that will include:
- A 3-week trip for 10 students and two professors to visit Rome once every three years and take a Catholic studies course while visiting.
- A 1-week trip every third year to visit Catholic sites or institutions in different cities in North America.
- Bring in well-known Catholic speakers to UPEI every three years.
